![]() ![]() Bur if any of you have more insight after using several, then pls share your thoughts and opinions. I want to produce different styles as times goes, but as song writer myself, I am leasing towards sounds in the field of Reggae/Ska, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Afrobeat, World folk music, Blues, Country/Folk/Indiepop, some softer rock/pop/singer songwriter etc. I do think the Reason Drum 2 refill and the BFD refills and some Drumdrops are nice. But now when a new world are opening, I look for something to expand the sound palette.ĭon't forget with Superior Drummer you can use all the EZX (EZ Drummer) libraries as well and its only more complicated than EZ if you want it to be.īFD3 is a completely different kettle of fish to the BFD ReFills aside from some of the sounds you cannot compare the amount of flexibility and control in the main program to the ReFills. I have little experience with Addictive Drums so can't help much there, but all these three are considered as the 'Big Guns' as far as acoustic kit drumplers go and you are unlikely to go far wrong with any one of these. You are right there are some stellar sounding Kontakt drum libraries around, the advantage with Kontakt of course is there's plenty else besides drums to choose from, although the drum libraries themselves vary in quality and how they are handled because it is not a specialist drum environment as found in the big 3 mentioned above. If you do go the Kontakt route I can recommend any (or all) of the Jazz Series 1 or Hotbox series found here, lovely sounding, top notch quality and very reasonable prices. If you want complete control over your sounds, then Addictive and Superior are the way to go. The MIDI libraries are great for all three.Īnd you can individual out the parts and add your own effects as you so desire. I also own Toontrack's EZPlayer Pro which allows me to convert MIDI packs between formats so all of my Addictive MIDI packs are now compatible with EZDrummer and vice versa. The Reggae kit is quite nice and I do recommend it. Now that Reason can use VST, I am psyched to have all of these functioning except for the MIDI drag which will be available in a later upgrade to Reason. Superior drummer vs addictive drums upgrade# My advise is go and listen to the different packs. Roots is fantastic and seems right up your alley but it is Superior Drummer. Lots of great packs and kits for both Addictive and EZDrummer. And if you purchase EZDrummer around Christmas they do a cross-grade special where you can get Superior for a fantastic price. QVprod wrote:Just to add, BFD and Superior Drummer have a bit more flexibility than the Kontakt options as you can mix and match kits. With Kontakt libraries, you're locked into whatever sounds are included in that particular drumkit. You can replace sounds but its not as simple.Īctually i like to be a bit limited with "real drums" libraries. Imagine a good drummer with a good sounding drum kit in front of you in the studio - what else do you need ? Drumasonic actually has few different kit pieces to choose and that's it - i like that. Too many possibilities and endless drum kits mix and match, not really my cup of tea. Superior drummer vs addictive drums series#. ![]()
